Basic gameplay

Many of you may be familiar with the cards game called Poker, which is known by different names. One such amazing new version is played in Texas Holdem. After the initial blinds & antes (see explaination below) have been placed, each player gets 2 personal blind cards which he keeps for himself until the showdown.

Anticipation, accompanied with experience comes into play during the first round of betting called FLOP where 3 community cards are turned over. The TURN and the RIVER card, 4th and 5th in succession are exposed turn by turn after each round of Betting.

When its time for showdown, each player uses his intelligence to make the best possible 5 card combination using personal and community cards.

Every player gets a chance to deal once in a round. Preferably, everyone likes to use his blinds but antes are always there at your disposal.

Blinds:

Forced bets, only required of two players rather than all players at the table. In holdem there are two kinds of blinds:

1. Small Blind, The smaller of two forced bets. Usually 1/2 the minimum opening bet.

2. Big Blind, The larger of two forced bets. Usually equal to the minimum opening bet.

Playing Online

With all the craze that’s happening to the online gambling industry – new online casinos, new online casino games, and new bonuses and promotions- you still have to be very careful when it comes to playing online.  There are a lot of scammers and malicious people in the Internet who are only out for your money, so you have to safeguard not only your bankroll but also your privacy and identity as well.  Here are some guidelines on how to play online.

Reading Casino Reviews

First and foremost, before you sign up with any online casino, you have to take the time to read reviews about the casino that you want to become a member of.  There are a lot of reviews in the Internet, so you can use them to help you make a choice, but you still have to be careful because some reviews are paid by the casinos themselves, so you need to look elsewhere to verify that the casino, indeed, is a legitimate and trustworthy site.

You can join forums as well as read blogs.  Here, you will meet many online players who have played in some casinos.  They give good advices about the casinos if you ask them for an advice.  Furthermore, they will also give you the pros and cons about each casino as well as player feedbacks about the bonuses and the promotions being offered by the online casino.  On the other hand, blogs (like this one :) ) are a great way to read about casinos since they were personally written by the blog owners themselves, writing about their experiences with an online casino. Personally I recommend Titanpoker.com, Pokerstars.com, Paradisepoker.com and Goldenpalace.com.

Choosing the Casino Type

Secondly, you also have to take into consideration the kind of casino that you want.  There are usually two types of casinos.  The first type is the online casinos that require the players to download a software in order for them to play the game.  The second type is the online casinos that do not require the players to download any software since they have a browser-based platform.

With the no-download type of casino, you have to be prepared to make an initial deposit before you can play the game.  You usually have to deposit the initial amount once you have created an account.  With the download type of casino, on the other hand, you first have to download and then install the casino’s software before you have to open an account and deposit the initial amount.

Choosing the Casino Games

Thirdly, you still have to choose the casino games.  They may all be the same table games, card games, or slot games, but they have differences.  For one, you still have to choose the software developer powering the online casinos.  Remember, read through reviews about the software developers, too, before you play online.  You will not enjoy playing an online game and then experiencing lags and glitches all throughout your gameplay, so the software provider does matter in playing online.
